Weeked Workouts

My November workouts have gotten up to a pretty rough start. Yesterday I lasted 10 minutes. There was sharp pain in my left hip area. I didn’t want to risk serious injury so I stopped, went home, and did some stretching. I also used my massage ball.

Today I was just plain lazy. I did not want to go to the gym or to the park. I procrastinated until about 5 pm and then I headed to the park. I initially said I was going to walk four miles but decided not to overdo it. I still ended up overdoing it a bit. I did a slow jog for the last .25 mile. It felt pretty good. I worked out the kink on my left side with my massage ball.

I definitely need to stay on top of this. My left side feels better but my right knee gave me a little trouble coming down a slight incline. As much as I focus on my form and have been fitted with three different brands of sneakers now, I still have this imbalance problem.

I know part of the problem is my inconsistency with the exercises and stretches Dr. Smith gave me. If I can do my part, I am sure it will help the situation. I have 25 days until my next 5K.

C25K: Week Two

I'm schedule to begin Week Two tomorrow.  I'm filled with some self-doubt.  Yesterday I did a 30-minute Elliptical workout and increased the resistance. Today my knees are bothering me a little.  I'm going to go a lot of stretching, drink a lot of water, and pray.  I'll play it by ear in the morning.  If my knees don't feel any better, I'll repeat Week One.

I'm thinking maybe I pushed it with increasing the resistance.  I probably did because I started getting a cramp in my calves while stretching yesterday.  I'm praying it's just my body getting used to my training and not an injury.

Good news and not so good news

The good news is that I did a really good job food shopping yesterday. I got eggs, fruits, veggies, multigrain crackers, and protein shakes. I made a nice post of veggie soup. Today for lunch I'm going to have a nice salad with tuna.

My focus this week has been hydration and increasing my endurance level. Instead of drinking Crystal Light, I've been teaching myself to drink plain water.

The not so good news is that my knee is bothering me. The weird thing is that it's not the knee I was complaining about initially. Now it's my left knee. I did some stretching and yoga exercises. After this, my knee buckled about three times--very painful. It's happened two times today. So, I'm going to see a different doctor this afternoon. He specializes in sports injuries.

This is not good. My 5K is in 17 days. Today was supposed to be cardio day with Kimberly. We're going to try to have my session on Friday, after I see what the doctor says.

I'm on vacation next week so I'll be on my own, as far as training goes.

I remain hopeful. Kimberly thinks it may be the increased activity. I have been pushing myself. I hope she's right.
